Two new bamboo fly rods completed.

I just completed two new bamboo fly rods this week, just in time for the upcoming Fly Fishing Show next week in Pleasanton, Ca.  I’ll be there with a booth, and Mary Ann will be teaching classes and giving casting demonstrations.  I’ll have both of these two rods, a 7′  6″  2 piece/2 tip 5 wt Signature Series rod and a 7′  9″  2 piece/1 tip 4 wt Spring Creek Series rods at the show and available to cast.  If you are in the Bay Area, I encourage you to stop by the show….tons of fly fishing stuff, and 5 of us who build bamboo fly rods will be there.

    • Hi Larry,

Great to hear from you. I’m a big fan of blonde rods rather than the darker flamed look. So, through my heat treating process, I strive to retain the blonde look on my rods. We’re looking forward to the upcoming show later this week, and hopefully it’s not too soggy down in the bay area from all the rain they’re getting today.

  1. Thanks for your reply Dave.
Wondering about heat treating after your comment. The last rod I made I totally blew the heat treatment. The oven I made based on Wayne Catanach’s design was too hot and I did not realize it until too late.
I tries to heat at 350 deg. F for 20 minutes but ended up with a very dark brown rod.
If I may ask, what is your HT methodology?
BTW, who runs the show in California?
Again, hope the weather cooperates with the show and your travel plans.
    Larry
