I’ve been hearing a lot of reports\u00a0for the past two weeks\u00a0of salmon flies on the Middle Deschutes River here in Central Oregon\u00a0so I was finally able to get out today for a few hours.\u00a0 I took my 7′\u00a0 6″\u00a0 5 wt Freestone Series bamboo fly rod.\u00a0 Fish were quite hungry for both nymphs and dry flies, and I picked up several…the rainbows were between 10″ and 15″ and the browns were between 12″ and 18″.\u00a0 The river is relatively\u00a0small where I fished so the 7′\u00a0 6″ medium fast action rod was perfect.\u00a0 Here are a few photos of my afternoon.<\/p>\n
