I’ve been so excited about matching thread furled leaders with bamboo fly rods. They have an amazing feel, turn flies over extremely well, and are an incredible match with bamboo. Michael Morin at Cutthroat Leaders offers some really great furled leaders. After watching his video, it’s hard to not try them:

Hi Dave, before i impregnated no. 2 blank i taped on guides and the blank felt good casting a 325 scandi head with a furled leader made of 4lb seagur fluorocarbon i those i make 8 feet long. this test was with a two handed spey cast. making ones of silk are great for overhead spey casts with dry flies.
after getting the blank planed towards the equation of Ron Granthams ET spey, i finished planed it to match what would be a Beulah 6 wt. power curve and flex index.
its big experiment..
always can start over….
i’m waiting for my new vintage Atlas 109 lathe to come so i can graduate from using my old Rockwell drill press for grip turning and ferrule making.
